12. Bygod EGGLESTON was baptized on 20 February 1586, or possibly 1587 in All Saints Church at Settrington, East Riding, (now North Yorkshire) England. He died on 1 Sept 1674 at Windsor, Connecticut. His will [NOTE 1] was dated 13 November 1673. Sometime before 1612 he arrived at Norwich, Norfolk, England. He married and had four children who were born in England. He emigrated to America on the ship "Mary and John", which sailed from Plymouth, England on 20 March 1630. They landed ten weeks later at Dorchester, Massachusetts. About 1635 he moved to Windsor, Connecticut, which is at the confluence of the Farmington and Connecticut Rivers. Windsor is about six miles north of where the city of Hartford stands today.

He married Esther or Hester WILLIAMS about 1656. She was born about 1639 at Hartford County, Connecticut and she died on 9 July 1720 at Hartford, Connecticut. Stiles says she was the sister of Roger WILLIAMS of Hartford, Coneccticut. After the death of James, she married James ENO in 1680.

He married Esther MILLS on 1 June 1682. She was born about 1665at Wintonbury, Connecticut. She died on 25 January 1757 and she was buried at Wintonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut. They lived near the brick school house at Bloomfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. This is about six miles northwest of Hartford.

126. Thomas EGGLESTON was born on 26 September 1746 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. He died on 25 December 1822 (at Smyrna, Chenango County, New York ?). He served in the Revolutionary War. On 24 June 1776 he enlisted in Captain Job COUCH's company of Colonel Phillip Burr BRADLEY's regiment. This body was stationed during the summer and early fall of 1776 at Bergen Heighths and Paulus Hook, now Jersey City. In November it was transfered across the river to the defense of Fort Washington, NY, where with hundreds of others Thomas Eggleston was captured by British forces on 16 November 1776. He was a farmer and brickmaker as well as a noted fisherman. He and his sons owned the best fishing place on the Connecticut River, north of Middletown. It was situated on Deerfield lot, 4 miles north of Hartford, and is still known as "Eggleston's fishing place". He married twice.
He first married Rebecca DRAKE on 13 February 1766. She was born on 24 January 1745. She died in 1775.
She was the daughter of Samuel & Rebecca DRAKE.

She died on _______________, 1964 at _______________________, Illinois and was buried in Illinois. Although the 1900 census says Emma was born in Illinois, family history is that she was born in a 40 room mansion near Augusta, Georgia. When her parents died, the plantation was inherited by an uncle from England who sold the property and sent her and her sister Ina C. HAWLEY, (who married Frank E. STEVENSON) to live with family at Chicago. In 1900 Willis and Emma lived at 5801 Loomis Avenue; Harvey, Cook County, Illinois.
***Hawley may have been adopted name. Livingston was possibly the girl's actual surname. Family history made a connection with them to the Livingston family of the Stanley/Livingston fame.
According to 1900 census Emma was born in Illinois, family history has it that she was born in or around Augusta GA. Parents died, father's brother inherited the property, sold it, sent the Ina and Emma to family in Chicago and returned himself to England.
